Sep 03, 2019 · I have a couple of questions regarding our oil boiler installation - a Grant Vortex Pro 15/26, serving an unvented cylinder. 1) I've read on another (non-plumbing!) forum that it's inefficient to use the boiler solely for hot water heating during the summer months, when the CH is off. The suggestion was to use the immersion heater only.

I've rarely seen one that lasted more than 7-10 years where the water chemistry was decent. Replace it with a stainless steel indirect with a 1" coil and it will last significantly longer without issues. If your boiler water or potable water has significant hardness or boiler pH is not 8-9, there will be problems.

We had our Ideal Icos He15 boiler fitted via a government grant in Sept 2007 and have had nothing but problems ever since. In 2010 we have had 3 call-outs since March this year. Dec 07, 2012 · The boiler is a Potterton Flamingo 50s, the hot water tank is an indirect cylinder and the 2 port valve is a Honeywell V4043. The central heating works fine - the radiators heat up no problem. The problem is, I can't seem to get hot water in much quantity from the system. With hot water only on, I get luke warm water.

Jan 11, 2008 · vaillants really are top quality boilers, the old man swears by them (he was the main combi expert at british gas west midlands for many years) 10 years isn't really old at all for a vaillant and yours model isn't one of the very old over-complicated models. i'd think carefully about replacing it as you will have to have a condensing boiler and are looking at considerable cost.
